Following a successful market test run, movie theater chain Cinemark Holdings, Inc. announced that it will be expanding its third party concessions delivery services throughout the United States.
Earlier this year, the Plano-headquartered theater company partnered with the three major delivery services — DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats — making it the first major U.S. exhibitor to engage in such a collaboration.
Through the partnership, Cinemark gave people in select areas the ability to order the theater chain’s selection of concession items through one of the delivery apps, which would then transport the snacks to their front doors to be enjoyed from the comfort of their homes.
“Although there is nothing like indulging in your favorite movie theater concessions while watching great content in one of our immersive auditoriums, we are thrilled to now give fans across our markets the ability to have their favorite concessions delivered to their homes when they aren’t able to make it to the theater,” said David Haywood, Cinemark SVP of Food and Beverage.
After conducting initial market research, Cinemark says that the service was met with “resoundingly positive results,” which prompted the company to move forward with an expansion.
From now through the end of the year, Cinemark says that it will look to add more of its American theater locations on to the delivery platforms.
This is wonderful news for movie snack lovers across the country, as they will be able to enjoy buttery popcorn, delicious hot dogs, various sweet treats, refreshing ICEEs and more without having to venture outdoors to do so.
“The results of our initial multi-market testing corroborate that our guests crave Cinemark’s warm buttery popcorn, crisp cold drinks and delicious snacks from the comfort of their homes, and we are excited to expand our third-party delivery capability to more domestic theaters through the end of the year, just in time to add even more cheer to holiday gatherings,” Haywood said.
