Frisco’s highly anticipated Universal Kids Resort is one step closer to becoming a reality. Ticket sales and hotel reservations for the $550 million theme park are expected to open before the end of the year.

According to the Dallas Business Journal, Dan Cuffe, vice president and general manager of Universal Kids Resort, said the company plans to fully reveal what visitors can expect later this year — likely in the fourth quarter — alongside the release of tickets.

While a specific launch date for ticket sales has not been announced, a spokesperson for Universal Kids Resort told Local Profile that they will share more details soon, once the timing is finalized. The spokesperson did not confirm whether or not tickets would go on sale this year.

“We’re excited about Universal Kids Resort’s progressing development, and we’ll share timing once that is determined,” the spokesperson said.

What To Expect From Universal

Construction on the park, which broke ground in 2023, is well underway with a public opening scheduled for 2026. Universal Kids Resort promises a lineup of immersive lands featuring beloved characters from DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls and Gabby’s Dollhouse; Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants; Illumination’s Minions; and Jurassic World.

Anchoring the resort will be a five-story hotel designed by the renowned architecture firm Gensler. Located at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway, the hotel was approved by the Frisco City Council in December 2024 and will serve as the main entrance to the park.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together,” Universal Creative VP & Executive Producer Sarah Gibbon previously said. “At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families and friends. They’ll be able to do all this while being fully immersed in some of their favorite stories — ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy.”

What The Park Means For Frisco

Beyond entertainment, Universal Kids Resort is poised to have a major economic impact on the region, creating more than 2,500 construction jobs and many more permanent positions once the resort is operational. The company has committed to ensuring that the development enhances and positively serves the local community.

Once open, the park’s standard operating hours will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with flexibility to adjust for holidays, peak seasons and special events. Hotel guests and annual pass holders will enjoy early access starting at 8 a.m., while regular opening hours will never begin earlier than 9 a.m. On up to 20 special days per year, closing times may be extended to 10 p.m.

As Frisco continues to cement its status as a premier destination, the arrival of Universal Kids Resort signals big fun — and big opportunity — just around the corner.
