It’s summer in Texas! And that means some of the hottest days of the year are upon us. Thankfully, cities such as Plano, Texas are home to many ways to cool down and spend some quality time with friends and family.

Windhaven Meadows Park
Where: 5400 Windhaven Parkway, Plano
Cost: Free
With multiple playgrounds and a splash park, Windhaven Meadows is the perfect place to spend a hot afternoon. The large splash pad area includes a stream, jets and a play table with dams. The entire area is also surrounded by large boulders which gives weary parents a place to sit and rest.
Plano Aquatic Center
Where: 2301 Westside Dr, Plano
Cost: Ages 3 Years & Older: $3 resident/ $5 non-resident
Plano Aquatic Center not only has an indoor 25-yard lap pool, but also an outdoor spray ground. The area is decently shaded and offers picnic tables for families to use while they play.
Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center
Where: 5801 Parker Rd, Plano
Cost: Ages 3-15 years: $3 resident/ $5 non-resident | Ages 16 & older: $6 resident / $9 non-resident
The Tom Muehlenbeck rec center, known for its leisure pool and water slides, also features a large outdoor spray pad with multiple water slides, spray fountains and a playground.
Jack Carter Pool
Where: 2601 Pleasant Valley Dr, Plano
Cost: Ages 3-15 years: $5 resident/$8 non-resident | Ages 16 & older: $9 resident/$13 non-resident
Jack Carter is perfect for the whole family — even if you don’t want to swim in the pool. While younger children enjoy the mini slides, get dunked by the water bucket and climb the splash pad's multiple stories and fixtures, older kids can swim in the deep water pool with a diving platform and climbing wall.
Water features are open the first Saturday in April and close after the third weekend in October.
