Tyson Foods, H-E-B and NextUp teamed up to donate 40,000 pounds of protein to the North Texas Food Bank in recognition of Hunger Action Month, serving 13 North Texas counties.
According to the North Texas Food Bank, the donation will help provide tens of thousands of nutritious meals to those who face increasingly tough decisions every day. The donation is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the North Texas Food Bank.
“We are so grateful for the support of companies like Tyson Foods, H-E-B and NextUp Texas that recognize the growing issue of hunger and look for ways to contribute to organizations addressing this complex problem,” said North Texas Food Bank Director of Food Sourcing Stacy Stephenson in an official statement. “Their generosity helps advance our mission of bridging the hunger gap in North Texas during this critical time and beyond.”
In 2022 alone, Tyson Foods contributed 18 million pounds of food, including 10 million pounds of protein to hunger relief partner, Feeding America and its network of 200 food banks, 60,000 partner agencies, food pantries and meal programs.
Hunger relief has also been a central focus for H-E-B since its first store opened in 1905. Through the Hunger Relief Program, H-E-B has donated over 1 billion pounds of food to help nourish neighbors across Texas and Mexico. The H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program supports 18 Feeding America food banks within the Texas Food Bank Network, as well as 13 food banks from the Mexican Association of Food Banks, all working to combat hunger and malnutrition.
“H-E-B is proud to partner with Tyson Foods and the North Texas Food Bank on this donation that will provide families with much-needed protein,” said H-E-B Hunger Relief Public Affairs Manager Danny Flores. “The H-E-B hunger relief program has donated more than one billion pounds of food to nonprofits in Texas and Mexico and this donation continues to show the importance of coming together to address hunger in our communities.”
