Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott Help Raise $3 Million For Childhood Cancer

NFL stars lead a record-breaking night of fashion, fundraising and hope

At the 35th Annual Children’s Cancer Fund Gala, the spotlight wasn’t on the red carpet — it was on the runway. And walking it? A stylish squad of pint-sized warriors flanked by NFL legends and local celebrities.

Held April 11, 2025 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas and presented by Dillard’s, the sold-out event brought together Honorary Chairs Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott, Gala Chairs Lori Jones and Meredith Land, pediatric cancer patients, survivors and their families for a night of fashion, fundraising and celebration. It was the organization’s biggest gala yet — in both size and spirit, bringing in a record-breaking $3 million fundraising total.

Twenty young cancer warriors, decked out in outfits donated by Dillard’s, strutted the runway like pros, some with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott or former QB Tony Romo as their co-models. Even Troy Aikman returned to the catwalk, marking his 26th year supporting the gala.

“The joy these kids bring, knowing everything they’re going through and the resilience it takes just to be here, is what brings me back year after year,” said Prescott in an official statement. “Being part of a night that gives them spirit, love, hope and support — while recognizing the obstacles they face every day — means the world to me.”

The show featured some familiar faces and famous friends, including sisters Maddy and Sophie McGuire and other local celebs who walked in support of the cause.

“The involvement of Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott elevates the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala in a truly unique way,” said Jones. “Their presence not only attracts attention to the event but also reinforces its mission with their genuine passion and commitment, reminding everyone of the power of coming together to make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer.”

From Football Field To Fundraising Force

Aikman and Prescott carried on the “Quarterbacks for a Cure” tradition launched by Roger Staubach, who chaired the gala for decades before passing the torch. Now, the two quarterbacks lead the charge, using their star power to shine a spotlight on pediatric cancer research.

“Every time I come back, I’m reminded of the strength and courage these children show — not just on the runway, but in their daily fight,” said Aikman. “Being part of this is one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.”

Celebrating 35 Years Of Impact

This year’s gala included a walk down memory lane with historical clippings and memorabilia, plus a VIP reception, dinner and live auction. But the real headline? Raising $3 million to support Children’s Health and UT Southwestern — a new record for the gala and a huge leap toward building a new pediatric campus in Dallas.

“It was incredibly special to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished over the past 35 years with our friends and partners,” said Children’s Cancer Fund CEO Jennifer Arthur in an official statement. “At the same time, the night was about looking ahead to the future of pediatric health care in North Texas.”

Big Hearts, Bigger Smiles

The kids who stole the show came from across the region — McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Celina and beyond — each with their own story, their own sparkle and their own moment in the spotlight.

“What makes this event so special is the opportunity to directly celebrate these young superstars, giving them their deserved moment in the spotlight while raising vital funds for research and support programs,” said Land. “It’s not just about raising money — it’s about creating hope, building community and making a lasting difference.”
