The Communities Foundation of Texas is rallying a group of sports legends across the region to support North Texas Giving Day, the largest community-wide giving event in the country.

Nathaniel Lowe, a World Series Champion and first baseman for the Texas Rangers, launched the initiative as the North Texas Giving Day ambassador. He is joined by other legends from North Texas sports teams, all working together to inspire the community to become “champions of giving” for local nonprofits.

“Everybody has the opportunity to go out and help somebody get better,” said Lowe in an official statement. “As a team, we can get better together and we should definitely push to improve. It takes a dedicated team to bring North Texas Giving Day to life, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

Lowe leads a star-studded lineup of athletes and legends from the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas and Dallas Wings in boosting donations for North Texas Giving Day. Joining him are standout figures such as Dallas Cowboys' Zack Martin, NBA All-Star and Mavericks legend Rolando Blackman and three-time NHL All-Star and former Stars goaltender Marty Turco. Also contributing their support are Dallas Wings guard Jacy Sheldon, Wings center Jaelyn Brown and FC Dallas’ Paul Arriola, all rallying for local nonprofits and encouraging community engagement.

The online giving period for North Texas Giving Day started on Sept. 1, 2024, and runs through Sept. 19, 2024, at NorthTexasGivingDay.org. This event provides a convenient platform for everyone to support the causes they care about, with 100% of online donations going directly to local nonprofits.

“We believe everyone in our community can be champions of giving, donating difference-making dollars to the causes they care about,” said Communities Foundation of Texas President and CEO Wayne White in an official statement. “With beloved local sports champions leading the way, we’re anticipating a huge victory for the thousands of local nonprofit partners we uplift through North Texas Giving Day.”

In the past 15 years, North Texas Giving Day has evolved into the largest regional fundraising event in the country, raising over $60 million for nonprofits in 2023. This growth has been supported by the generosity of more than 30 community sponsors, including presenting sponsor Amazon, as well as individual donors and grants from the Communities Foundation of Texas. These contributions cover all transaction and technology fees and provide tools, training and resources for the participating nonprofits.
