From late Wednesday through Friday morning, widespread snow is anticipated, with 1-4 inches expected and up to 6 inches possible in some areas of Collin County. You might be ready. But not everyone is.

As winter weather approaches, many North Texans in need are seeking not only warm shelter but also clothing.

How Donations Can Help

According to the city of Plano, Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS) provides a temporary shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness during extreme weather conditions, such as dangerously cold temperatures or hazardous combinations of precipitation, wind and cold.

In anticipation of welcoming over 100 guests per night during this week’s freezing temperatures, POWS urgently needs donations of new or clean, gently used clothing and hygiene items. The coat closet is currently running low. Community members are encouraged to help by donating clothing, with items placed in bags marked "for POWS."
