College is expensive — that’s an understatement. However, thanks to a decision made by Collin College’s board of trustees on March 25, 2025, students will continue to benefit from the most affordable tuition in Texas.

During the meeting, the board voted to maintain the current tuition rates for the fall 2025 semester, ensuring that students can pursue their education without facing an increase in costs.

How Much Tuition Costs

With tuition set at just $67 per credit hour for in-district students, Collin College remains dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible education at a price that minimizes financial barriers and helps students achieve their academic and career goals without excessive financial strain.

What This Means

The unchanged tuition applies to all credit students, regardless of their academic path, whether they are pursuing bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees or certificates.

“Collin College is committed to providing an affordable and impactful education to our students,” Board of Trustees Chair Andrew Hardin said. “As an institution, we are pleased to be able to continue with the district’s current low tuition rates to ensure that higher education remains accessible to our communities.”

Collin College serves more than 60,000 credit and continuing education students each year and offers over 200 degree and certificate programs. These include bachelor’s degrees in nursing, cybersecurity, engineering, construction management and clinical operations management.

As the only public college in Collin County, it plays a key role in workforce development, partnering with businesses, government and industry to provide specialized training programs.

Other Options In North Texas

For students exploring options for four-year universities, The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) presents a competitive base tuition rate of $60 per credit hour. This rate may initially seem comparable to community college pricing; however, the total cost of attendance at UTD is significantly impacted by additional mandatory fees, which are considerably higher than those at Collin College. These extra costs can add up quickly, making a substantial difference in the overall financial burden on students.

As a result, for many individuals beginning their higher education journey, Collin College remains a more cost-effective choice. By offering an affordable tuition structure with lower associated fees, the community college provides students with an opportunity to complete their foundational coursework at a fraction of the price before transferring to a four-year university to complete their degree. This pathway allows students to save thousands of dollars while still working toward their long-term academic and professional goals.
