The board of directors of Legacy Capital announced the appointment of Jerry Abrahams as chief executive officer and president.

Plano-based Legacy Capital, a fully approved FHA/MAP lender and Ginnie Mae issuer, provides nationwide services to multifamily clients. Abrahams, who joined Legacy Bank and Trust in 2023 as head of corporate strategy, has now transitioned into his new role at Legacy Capital.

“The addition of Jerry to our Legacy Capital team reflects the company’s continued commitment to the growth and success of this business,” Chair of the Board of Directors John Everett said in an official statement. “Legacy Capital is an important part of our vision to better serve our multi-family customers. Legacy Bank and Trust is a leader in construction and permanent lending for affordable and market-rate borrowers, and Legacy Capital provides additional financing capabilities for our customers. Jerry will help us realize this vision.”

Abrahams previously served as CEO of a leading commercial mortgage services company, which was one of the nation's top providers of FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgages. He also brings extensive experience in LIHTC syndication.

“I am humbled to be named as the CEO and president of Legacy Capital,” said Jerry Abrahams, CEO and President of Legacy Capital. “I look forward to contributing to the dynamic next chapter of Legacy Capital’s future and working closely with our talented team and our colleagues at Legacy Bank and Trust. We have great momentum even in this difficult market, as we are growing both our staff and our pipeline.”

Abrahams is actively involved in his community, serving on the board of the Connecticut housing finance authority and as an adjunct professor at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Columbia University.
