For nearly 30 years, KHYI 95.3 The Range has been Collin County’s home for country music and rising local talent. As one of the nation’s longest-running independent stations, it’s also hosted the annual music festival, Texas Music Revolution, now gearing up for its 29th year.

Who’s Hitting The Stage

Last year’s headliner was Lyle Lovett, but this year, Flatland Cavalry, whose song “How Long” recently made it onto an episode of Yellowstone, is one artist to headline the event. Dawes — another performer — recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Here’s the rest of the lineup taking the stage in the city’s historic downtown:

The Wilder Blue, Silverada, Lola Kirke, Jamie Richards, John Baumann, Bri Bagwell, Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights, Taylor Hunnicutt, Cole Phillips, Courtney Patton, John Hollier, Two Tons Of Steel, Sour Bridges, Blaine Bailey, Liam St. John, Christian Hayes, Payton Howie, Isaac Hoskins, Angel White, Kelley Mickwee, Corina Grove, West Texas Exiles, Parker Twomey, The Imaginaries, Maylee Thomas Band, Crow and Gazelle, Blackbird Sing and Austin Akins.

What Else To Expect

The festival will kick off at 12 p.m. each day and will end at 10:30 p.m. on Friday and midnight on Saturday. Each artist will have an hour to an hour and a half set, depending on what time they perform during the festival.

Vendors, food trucks and hotel partners will be announced as the festival gets closer. Last year, the partner hotel Sheraton McKinney provided shuttles to and from the downtown square. If you’re in Collin or Dallas County, driving in for the festival is definitely doable, but if you don’t want to worry about parking and fully want to experience the Texas Music Revolution (and McKinney!), we recommend booking a hotel.

As Local Profile previously reported, Station General Manager Joshua Jones spearheads the Texas Music Revolution, and in 2021 documented the challenges of running a post-pandemic festival alongside cinematographer Troy Paff, known for his work with CNN, A&E and The Travel Channel. Their film, TMR’s Texas Music Revolution, captures the festival’s planning, performances and unexpected twists, from heartfelt artist stories to weather disruptions that threatened the event. Featuring music critic’s favs like Charley Crockett, along with Hollywood actor-turned-musician Kiefer Sutherland, the film spotlights intimate performances and personal reflections on the importance of keeping art and festivals alive, and it was acepted into prestigious festivals like Woodstock Film Festival and Catalina Film Festival.
