Music Street was first announced in 2019, with a "coming soon" sign along the Dallas North Tollway for years. Now, in 2025, the venue remains absent — but a new website has surfaced. Featuring fresh 3D renderings and updated details, it teases an opening this year, rekindling hope for the long-awaited entertainment complex.

But before you start dusting off your dancing shoes, remember: we've heard this song before. And before. And before.

Local Profile reached out to Music Street Frisco for comment but did not receive a response before publication.

What Is Music Street

When first announced, Music Street Frisco was envisioned as a 6.7-acre music and entertainment hub designed to accommodate 1,000 guests in the heart of the Frisco North Platinum Corridor. Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney played a key role in the groundbreaking ceremony, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering a vibrant live music scene.

The ambitious project, developed by Consortium Firm International and designed by Charles Hodges in collaboration with Nashville music concert engineers, is said to feature both indoor and outdoor performance spaces, as well as on-site dining and space for recording artists.

“Who is ready for more live music in Frisco?” Cheney once asked on Facebook. We in fact are ready, Mr. Mayor! Frisco is a certified Music Friendly Community after all.

The New Details

While the renderings themselves have been seen before, the addition of a 3D video component is a newer development. According to the recently released informational video, the proposed design incorporates state-of-the-art sound systems capable of delivering studio-quality recordings, catering not only to musicians but also to podcast creators.

The venue aims to enhance audience engagement by broadcasting and live-streaming performances, allowing artists to reach a broader and more diverse audience. In addition to its performance spaces, the venue would feature two full-service restaurants, four rotating kitchens  offering a variety of culinary experiences and multiple bars.

Why The Delay?

Progress on Music Street Frisco has been slow, to say the least. In April 2022, a spokesperson for Consortium Firm International told Local Profile that construction was “moving along at a rapid pace,” with an expected opening date of September 2023. Yet, nearly two years have passed without any significant public updates or actual construction.

“That project certainly got slowed down as a result of COVID,” Cheney said during a town hall in June 2023. “A lot of venues like that kind of took a hit. They have been coming back to the city here in recent months about looking for plans to start that project up. We haven’t heard any firm commitments about when that will start, but hearing from their side, they’re hopeful to start that up soon.”

Why the project is still not moving forward, we don’t have an answer. An educated guess, however, would be that the developers are still seeking investors.

While these recent website updates indicate potential progress, questions remain about the timeline and viability of the project. Whether the long-awaited entertainment venue will finally take shape in 2025 remains to be seen, but for now, Frisco’s music lovers have reason to remain hopeful.

What Happens Now?

Honestly, we’re not sure. “Thanks for sharing,” Frisco Director of Communications Dana Baird-Hanks told Local Profile after we asked about the website refresh, “That said, please continue to reach out to the developer to determine whether the venue is still a possibility for Frisco. We don’t have any new information.”

But we do have a new website. We’ve heard this song before, but hopefully, actual songs will be heard live at Music Street. Maybe, even this year.
