First Look: Perot Museum's Two New Space Exhibits

The Dallas museum is set to educate the public about Mars exploration technology and the mysteries of sound

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas, announced that it will be opening two new exhibits this month.

The first exhibit, titled "Mission Mars: Perseverance Rover," will take visitors on a journey to the Red Planet beginning on March 8.

Provided by NASA, the exhibit features replicas of the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity helicopter, two pieces of technology that have been used by the aerospace organization to explore Mars. Showcased in the exhibit is a collection of video, images and sounds collected from the Martian surface during the rover’s exploration missions, providing a snapshot of the distant planet to curious guests.

In addition to space exploration, the Perot Museum is also set to educate the public about one of the five senses with the debut of “Sound Trek: Journey of Sound.”

Developed in collaboration with Lucid Hearing, the immersive exhibit invites participants to unravel the mysteries of sound, delving into the intricacies of human hearing through hands-on learning and investigation.

Both "Mission Mars: Perseverance Rover" and "Sound Trek: Journey of Sound" will be included with the price of general admission, ensuring that all visitors have the opportunity to embark on these unforgettable explorations.

The Perot Museum is located at 2201 N. Field Street, Dallas, Texas 75201, and is open Wednesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays).

During spring break, from March 9 through March 17, the Perot Museum will be open each day, extending its hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during that stretch.

Visitors that come during spring break will also receive a free pair of eclipse safety glasses in advance to the upcoming natural phenomenon slated to occur on April 8.
