The State of the Arts 2025 presentation, hosted by Collaborative Arts of Plano (CAP), is your chance to dive into the heart of Plano’s thriving arts scene. Taking place Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., this free and open-to-the-public event will be held at North Texas Performing Arts at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.
This annual event highlights the accomplishments of Plano’s arts and cultural organizations over the past year while giving a sneak peek into what’s ahead. CAP’s mission is to establish Plano as a diverse and inclusive arts destination, celebrating creativity as a vital part of the city’s identity.

- 6:30 p.m. Refreshments, networking and live music by Plano Symphony Orchestra student performers
- 7 p.m. Presentations by Plano arts and culture leaders, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Frank Turner

Special guest Michelle Hawkins, city of Plano representative, will preview the city’s first Cultural Arts Plan.
Nichelle Sullivan of H-E-B will also address the importance of business support for the arts in her keynote, “Why/How Businesses Must Contribute to Arts.” A former Emmy-nominated journalist and passionate arts advocate, Sullivan brings years of strategic expertise and community dedication to this conversation.
Panel Discussion
Following the presentations, leaders from Plano’s arts and cultural organizations will participate in a lively panel discussing organizational growth, resource development and community engagement. Panelists include:

About Collaborative Arts of Plano (CAP)
Founded in 2022, CAP unites 26 arts and cultural organizations in Plano with the shared goal of fostering collaboration, promoting the arts and advocating for resources. CAP is also behind other initiatives like Celebrate Plano Arts and the North Texas Carnival of the Arts.
Their efforts include successfully petitioning the city of Plano to develop its first cultural arts plan, a significant milestone in Plano’s cultural evolution.
