Even though most lakes in North Texas are manmade, they provide the perfect backdrop for outdoor recreation and waterside living. While lagoon-style amenities like those at Windsong Ranch in Prosper, Cannon Beach in McKinney, AnaCapri in Anna and Tabor Ranch in Denton have drawn attention for their resort-style offerings, lakeside living is also getting an upgrade with projects like The Tribute Marina & Park in The Colony.

The Tribute Marina & Park, a transformative project within The Tribute Lakeside Golf & Resort Community in The Colony, officially broke ground on Dec. 11, 2024. This development, spearheaded by Matthews, developer of The Tribute and Suntex Marinas, is expected to elevate lakeside living with state-of-the-art amenities and enhanced access to the beauty and recreational opportunities of Lewisville Lake.

A Vision for Community and Recreation

According to an official statement by Suntex Marinas, the marina will feature 801 wet slips accommodating boats up to 60 feet, along with a 4,069-square-foot floating marina structure. This facility will include retail and deli options, a fuel dock and office space. Adjacent upland amenities will cater to land-based recreational activities, boasting sand volleyball courts, table tennis, bocce ball, picnic areas and a multi-use lawn with a performance stage. Gated parking with minimal access fees will ensure convenient access for visitors.

“The Tribute Marina & Park is a transformative project for The Colony, symbolizing a new chapter in lakeside living,” said Mayor Richard Boyer during the groundbreaking ceremony. He emphasized the collaboration between Matthews, Suntex Marinas and the city of The Colony in bringing this ambitious vision to life.

A Long-Awaited Addition

Since its inception, The Tribute community has aimed to integrate the serene backdrop of Lewisville Lake into its design. Kristian Teleki, senior vice president at Matthews, highlighted the project’s journey through design phases, regulatory approvals and partnerships with organizations like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “The marina and park are going to be spectacular additions to The Tribute for residents to enjoy year-round,” Teleki said in an official statement.

Spanning 1,600 acres, The Tribute community will include close to 3,000 single-family homes, a town center and various other amenities. According to the statement, over 2,200 single-family homes have been built and sold to date. Residents of The Tribute have eagerly anticipated this development, which promises to enhance the quality of life and promote community connections.

Setting a New Standard

The Tribute Marina is set to offer access to a diverse fleet of boats and rental options. As one of the largest in the region, this state-of-the-art marina will offer an unparalleled boating experience for residents and guests alike.

Lake Lewisville is the largest lake by surface area in the four-county region that includes Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. With the marina’s completion in 2026, it will further cement its reputation as a premier destination for lakeside living.
