Fashion continuum at Plano West Senior High School’s “Big Lights” Fashion Show

Was it really a year ago that Plano Profile covered and featured the Plano Advanced Fashion Design Runway shows? Yes and yet, the end of year fashion activities continue to excite each year.

The talented and hard-working student designers “wowed” us with their exciting collections; it was a delight to view their work. The culmination of a two-year program, the project began with a design idea that was refined, sketched, pattern made, tailored, styled, sewed, fitted, and collection and show organized. A panel of judges selected a first and second place from each of the three high schools.

Plano West Senior High School’s “Big Lights” Fashion Show featured fashion collections from Ceara Kennedy, Elisa Perez, Megan Kelly, Javaria Khan, Hanna Henley, Safi a Ebrahim, Chelsie Cabrera, Paige Friesing, Aubrey Stone, Gabby Ealy, Summer Lanther, and Alexa Baker.

The first place winner was Hanna Henley with “Black and White Party.” Hanna’s collection was inspired by her dressing style; she will attend Texas Tech this fall and major in Fashion Merchandising. Megan Kelly was second place with her collection “Sophisticated Black.” Megan’s inspiration was New York with pretty black and gold party dresses. She will attend Collin College in the fall.

Plano East Senior High School’s Fashion Show “The Wild eye Casino” featured collections from Paola Salazar, Luis Salas de la Torre, Bre Brown, and Jaclyn Morgan. The first place winner was Luis Salas de la Torre with “Symmetrical Lines.” Luis was inspired by bold color and floral designs; he will study at Collin College. Bre Brown with “Changing Fashion Trends” won second place. She was inspired by fashion transition with old and new elements. She will attend Regency College this fall.

“Fashion in the Lights” by Plano Senior High School featured designers Brittany Fraley, Vickie Lin, Kaley Asplin, Raven Austin, Alexia Stewart, Jennifer Pedroza, Julissa Lopez, Ashlynn Krasney, Ashley Levar, Hazel Barasa, and Megan Johnson. Ashley Levar with “Fun in the Sun” won fi rst place; summer flowers and bright colors inspired her. She will attend Collin College in the fall.

Second place winner was Hazel Barasa with “Free.” Hazel’s inspiration was the Hippie Movement and Bohemian vibes. She will attend the University of North Texas.
