Drive east along 15th Street from U.S. Highway 75, cross the railroad tracks, and on your left, you’ll find Vickery Park tucked in between Scrubtastic and event1013. Owner Sean Teele opened it in January 2009. Go back 120 years, and this eatery-lounge was once Carpenter Pharmacy.

According to Historic Downtown Plano, by Janice Craze Cline, Edward A. Carpenter was born in 1871, the son of pioneer settlers Robert Washington “R.W.” and Lizzie Mathews Carpenter. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and bought the Schoolfield’s drugstore in the W.D. McFarlin building on the north side of Mechanic Street (15th Street) in 1895. In 1908, Carpenter sold the drugstore to the Allen brothers, who ran it for 31 years.
