Cool news! An organization called Independent We Stand is hosting a national contest for Main Streets (yes, the literal street) in nominated cities, and Downtown Plano is one of the nominees.

A city’s or town’s Main Street keeps things moving—it’s the heartbeat—and is an important part of the community. America’s Main Streets’ goal is to help promote the economic benefits of them and the small businesses that keep them thriving.

The Rules (in short)

You can vote once every day, per network/WiFi that you’re connected to. The first round of voting is over April 24 and the top 25 submissions with the highest votes move on to the second round. Semifinalist voting is May 2–29, and the top 10 move on, and then are put in the hands of the contest judges. The judges decide on a final winner based on submission criteria. For a long list of rules, visit mainstreetcontest.com/rules.php.

The best part: The winning Main Street receives $25,000! If we win, the money will go to Downtown Plano Arts District and a party!
