Biking, walking, dancing: This year's Juneteenth celebration will be active. Add other activities like shopping, art watching and dining on good food to the mix, and you have a lot of excitement and fun to look forward to during this memorable day commemorating the freedom of African Americans in Texas and the rest of the country.

Plano’s 2024 Juneteenth Celebration

When: June 13, 2024 | 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

On June 13, come enjoy the "Sounds of Africa" at Legacy West, featuring African drummers and talented singers performing in front of the Nike store from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Then, on June 22, join the Plano Juneteenth Celebration and Parade, starting at 11 a.m. at the theater parking lot. The parade will feature the Plano East Basketball Team State Champions and various community organizations, followed by festivities at the Plano African American Museum and the Boys and Girls Club. Lastly, on June 29, don't miss the inaugural Plano Urban Music Festival at McCall Plaza in downtown Plano, showcasing diverse talented local artists.

The Juneteenth Fashion Show is back at Legacy Hall in the Lexus Box Garden! Join us for a special event celebrating Black excellence and historical legends, featuring a fashion show, live music by DJ Mack, and an after-party. Early bird check-in and a pop-up market start at 4 PM. Designers include One Street Sales, Jacob + John and House of Dasha. The Historic African American Bus and Walking Tours offer insights into Dallas's 19th and 20th-century African American heritage. Starting from RBDallas's office at 1408 N. Washington Ave., the four-hour tour includes visits to significant sites like Tenth Street, Joppa and William Brown Miller's plantation mansion, Millermore. Departure is at 10:00 am sharp, with support from the city of Dallas ArtsActivate program.

Juneteenth at Slayter Creek Park

Soul Patrol Juneteenth Ride 2024

Opal's Walk For Freedom

On Wednesday, June 19, Opal Lee will complete her annual 2.5-mile walk at the African American Museum of Dallas, commemorating the 2.5 years it took for news of freedom to reach enslaved people in Texas. Unity Unlimited and Lee continue these walks to educate about the significance of universal freedom. 

Juneteenth Movie Screening & Art Exhibit
