Visit McKinney, the city's tourist information center, announced that its newly-renovated Visit McKinney Experience Center is now open to the public.

Located in Downtown McKinney, the new-and-improved building began undergoing renovations on Nov. 22, 2022. After construction work had been completed after a week, Visit McKinney reopened their offices and offered limited services, but the rebuild project would continue for almost another year after that.

Following months of selecting and ordering new furnishings and fixtures for their lobby area, Visit McKinney then went through the process of selecting merchandise for its new store, a new concept for them as the previous store iteration was operated by local partners.

The store features a wide variety of goods from local businesses that can be found in the area, including Hamm’s Meat + Market, Kim Guthrie Art, White Rock Soap Gallery and TexaKona Coffee Roasters — which worked with Visit McKinney to create a special McKinney Blend of coffee beans that are available by the bag.

“Our goal was to create a welcoming place where visitors and residents could experience a little bit of what awaits them in our city,” said Aaron Werner, Visit McKinney executive director, explaining that this goal was also behind the curation of some local merchandise to sell. “Part of this experience is to give guests an idea of items McKinney small businesses create and sell here.”

After a long process of renovations, Visit McKinney was finally able to fully reopen the new Experience Center earlier this month. In celebration of the opening, Visit McKinney held a ribbon-cutting event with almost 100 visitors in attendance.

The Visit McKinney Experience Center is located at 200 W. Virginia, McKinney, TX 75069 and is open Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
