Steve Walsh Appointed As Director of Parks & Recreation In Celina, Texas

With 25 years of experience, Walsh will focus on growth and innovation

The city of Celina announced the appointment of Steve Walsh as the new director of parks and recreation. Walsh, who brings over 25 years of experience from his tenure at the Frisco Parks and  Recreation Department, joins Celina during a period of rapid growth and development. His extensive background includes leadership roles in various divisions, strategic planning and capital improvement projects.

“I am honored to join the city of Celina during this dynamic period of growth and opportunity,” said Walsh in an official statement. “I look forward to working with a talented team to deliver innovative and exceptional recreational experiences for our community.”

In his most recent role in Frisco, Walsh served as the assistant director of parks and recreation since 2021, overseeing recreation, parks, natural resources and business services. According to the official statement, his accomplishments include implementing an enterprise asset management solution to optimize department resources and leading three successful CAPRA accreditation initiatives. Walsh also played a key role in significant capital improvement projects and mentored other departments.

He brings tremendous experience and a proven track record of developing an award-winning parks and recreation department,” said Celina City Manager Robert Ranc. “His expertise in strategic planning, community engagement and capital improvement projects will be instrumental as we continue to enhance our parks and recreational offerings.”
