Congratulations to the 2016 6A State Champions!
The boys golf team of Plano West Senior High won District, then went on to winning second in Regionals in Fort Worth, and finally advancing to play at State representing our region, along with Southlake Carroll and Mansfield. The team’s total score was 580 (four over par) for the two-day championship tournament held at the Legacy Hill Golf Course in Georgetown, Texas.
Senior Travis McInroe lead the Wolfpack’s victory, while winning the championship with two fantastic rounds of 71 and 70 (141). Travis finished two strokes ahead of the second and third place finishers who tied at 143 and went to a playoff. Sophomores Parker and Pierceson Coody tied for fourth place with total rounds of 145 and Junior Andy Lopez (who was a third place finisher at State last year) had a two-day total of 149, 15th place.
Coach Hardison and coach Salinas accompanied these young golfers guiding and cheering them along their journey to State champions.
