Local Profile Celebrates Latest Magazine At Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts

Guests participated in a cooking competition and enjoyed hors d'oeuvres

Despite the chilly weather that hit North Texas, Local Profile and its guests gathered to eat, cook and check out the latest magazine.

On Jan. 18, 2024, Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts, led by Chef Tre Wilcox, hosted the cover party for Local Profile’s January/February magazine. Starting the evening with delicious sliders paired with wine and beer, guests had the opportunity to mingle and meet new people.

But it wouldn’t be a party without a healthy dose of competition. Three groups full of Local Profile’s guests were led by local chefs to see who could cook the most salmon dishes in an hour — judged on taste, creativity, utilization of ingredients and presentation. Chef Wilcox presided over the competition with chefs, including Chef Ryan Oruch of Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grille and The Wilford; Chef Rocky Lavalais; and Chef Rodman Shields of The Common Table.

Guests watched in anticipation as the challenge took place. The groups cooked up classics and new takes creating ceviche, glazes, crispy potatoes and more, all pairing perfectly with the salmon.

But we can’t take all the credit… Chef Tre is the real star of the show, just like when he competed on Top Chef. Chef Tre, a two-time nominee for the prestigious "Rising Star Chef" award from the James Beard Foundation, has solidified his culinary acclaim. Chef Tre's culinary prowess extended to television, making notable appearances on Bravo Television's Top Chef season three and Top Chef All-Stars. He also showcased his skills on the Food Network's Iron Chef America, achieving victory alongside his mentor Kent Rathbun against the team led by Bobby Flay.

“I have a competitive spirit that’s always running me,” Chef Tre previously told Local Profile. “Chefs are always naturally competitive. Everyone knows everyone. We’re all trying to do the same thing — create something memorable.”
