During an award ceremony on Nov. 11, 2024, in Houston, Tatsu was awarded one of the highest honors in the culinary industry by The Michelin Guide Texas: a Michelin Star.

Nestled away from the streets of Dallas’s historic Deep Ellum, Tatsu Dallas offers a hidden escape into the elegance of Japanese omotenashi, or hospitality, paired with the timeless artistry of sushi. Here, Executive Chef and owner Tatsuya Sekiguchi orchestrates a culinary experience that’s both intimate and immersive, where each course is a seasonally inspired journey through Japan's freshest flavors.

The omakase dining unfolds with a delicate sequence: one or two appetizers, followed by thirteen to fifteen exquisite pieces of nigiri, a hand roll, comforting miso soup and a sweet finale for dessert.

Guests can enjoy this unique experience during two seatings, available five nights a week, each lasting approximately an hour and forty-five minutes. The setting invites diners to engage directly with chef Tatsu, making each visit both a performance and a meal.

“With just 10 counter seats, the greatest challenge is securing a reservation at this sushi restaurant within the renovated Continental Gin Building — but perseverance will be rewarded because this is the genuine article,” The Michelin Guide Texas said of the restaurant.

Since The Michelin Guide Texas announcement, undercover inspectors have been quietly dining across the state, booking tables under assumed names and footing their own bills to guarantee an authentic, unfiltered experience — just like any other guest.

At last, the dedication of chefs, cooks, servers — and meticulous inspectors — has culminated in a momentous reveal: the first-ever Michelin Star recipients in Texas.
