The Statler appointed Marcelus Cordeiro as its new executive chef. Cordeiro will oversee the culinary operations of The Statler’s acclaimed dining venues, including Overeasy, Scout, Bourbon & Banter and Waterproof, alongside managing the hotel’s room service and catering offerings.

“My goal is to create beautiful food while leading others to do the same,” said Cordeiro in an official statement. “Passion is the key; a love of food and culinary arts makes it easy. I look forward to delighting guests at The Statler.”

Cordeiro, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Dallas, is fluent in English, Spanish and his native Portuguese. With over a decade of culinary expertise, Cordeiro brings a wealth of experience to The Statler. He has previously served as chef-manager at the University of North Texas in Denton and held executive chef positions at renowned establishments such as the Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle in Fort Worth and the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. Additionally, his tenure as sous chef at Centerplate Event Venue Catering & Hospitality Services in downtown Dallas has further enhanced his ability to excel in diverse and demanding event environments.

“In Marcelus, we’ve found a great leader for our kitchens who believes every customer experience should be perfect,” said Nuno Rodrigues, food & beverage director at The Statler. “He achieves that by consistently delivering high-quality food and service. We’re happy to have him on the team.”

The Statler, renowned for its iconic mid-century design, has been a cornerstone of Dallas hospitality since its original opening in 1956, hosting luminaries from Frank Sinatra to The Jackson 5. Following its revitalization in 2017, The Statler now offers 159 upscale guest rooms, 219 luxury apartments and a collection of uniquely themed dining and drinking venues. A member of Hilton’s Curio Collection and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality, The Statler is and part of the Historic Hotels of America.
