A Plano Chick-fil-A restaurant is set to reopen to the public on Oct. 26 after moving into a new location.

Formerly located at 8724 Preston Road (on the corner of Preston Road and Highway 121), the restaurant recently relocated down the road into a new, renovated building at 8501 Preston Road.

Among the features of the new 5,000-square-foot chicken restaurant include dual drive-thru lanes, increased parking spaces, a designated pick-up counter, as well as an indoor dining area that seats up to 98 guests.

Continuing to serve as the location’s owner and operator is Jay Schumacher, a native Texan who started his career with Chick-fil-A back in 1984 as a team member.

Just like with the previous location, Schumacher will be in charge of all day-to-day activities of the business, which includes employing team members (the new restaurant spot will welcome 30 new employees upon reopening), serving customers, as well as developing relationships with organizations and businesses throughout the community.

“With our new restaurant location, we look forward to better-serving guests with an improved flow through our drive-thru and parking lot,” said Schumacher. “I feel so lucky to provide a place for all to gather, eat and feel at home in Plano. This community is home to me and my family, and I’m excited to continue caring for all who step through our new doors.”

In an effort to give back to the Plano community, Schumacher’s Chick-fil-A location plans on participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, an initiative that redirects unused food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need.

Since the establishment of the program, over 23 million meals have been donated by nearly 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The new Preston Road Chick-fil-A location will be open Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for dine-in and carry-out, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the drive-thru.
