A major hospitality development is on the horizon in McKinney. The city council recently approved a resolution to move forward with a new JW Marriott resort hotel, reinforcing the city’s vision to elevate tourism and attract premier experiences to the region.
A Transformational Project for McKinney
The new resort will be developed by Craig Ranch Luxury Hotel SPE Owner LP under a Chapter 380 Economic Development Program and Agreement with the city. Mayor George Fuller called the project a key step in McKinney’s strategic expansion.
With the airport’s upcoming expansion into commercial service, the extended partnership with The CJ CUP Byron Nelson tournament, and major entertainment projects like the VENU Sunset Amphitheater, expected to generate more than $3 billion in economic impact over its first decade, alongside Cannon Beach: Surf and Adventure Park, McKinney is rapidly emerging as both a regional and national destination.

"This is a transformational project that reflects the city of McKinney's commitment to thoughtfully planned growth and economic development," said Mayor Fuller in an official statement “A luxury resort like JW Marriott is not just welcome, it's needed."
What the Development Includes
The JW Marriott resort will bring 290 guest rooms and more than 51,000 square feet of conference space to McKinney, along with a wide range of resort-style amenities. Plans include:
- A pool with a lazy river
- Full-service fitness center
- Multiple dining options, including a three-meal restaurant, specialty restaurant and lounge with a terrace
- Poolside service
- Pickleball courts
- Structured and valet parking
- A business center and retail gift shop
Guests will also have access to the TPC Craig Ranch golf course and Lifetime Fitness and Spa, enhancing the appeal for both leisure and business travelers.
Premier Hospitality Meets Luxury Living
Adding to the mixed-use destination, the development will feature at least 45 for-sale condominiums, complete with a dedicated amenity deck. The project is set for an 8-acre parcel at the northeast corner of Collin McKinney Parkway and Van Tuyl Parkway in the heart of Craig Ranch.
What’s Next
The McKinney Community Development Corporation and the McKinney Economic Development Corporation are expected to review and consider additional incentives for the project in upcoming meetings this summer. As McKinney grows its footprint in the hospitality and tourism space, the JW Marriott is expected to become a cornerstone of that strategy.
