The city of Celina is about to officially launch its Downtown Center project, designed to meet essential needs like additional parking, city operations and community gathering spaces.

On Oct. 15, 2024, at 10 a.m., a groundbreaking ceremony will kick off the first phase of construction, featuring a 25,202-square-foot, four-story parking garage with nearly 400 spaces. The garage, designed with a masonry exterior to complement the surrounding historic architecture, will include an elevator lobby that aligns with the future atrium of the Downtown Center.

Upon completion, the Downtown Center will span 115,245 square feet, housing city administrative offices and a cutting-edge 26,209-square-foot library that will offer essential resources and community programs. The multi-level library will provide a wide range of resources, featuring plenty of seating, computer stations and areas for community events.

“The new parking garage and Downtown Center are critical components of our long-term vision for downtown Celina,” Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs previously said. “Together, these facilities will meet the needs of our rapidly growing community and create a thriving activity hub where residents and visitors can connect, engage and contribute to the city’s future.”

The Downtown Center will also include a rooftop community space intended for public events and social activities, providing stunning panoramic views of the city. The surrounding alley will be revitalized into a garden-like area to enhance the vibrancy of downtown.

“This project reflects Celina’s dedication to sustainable, community-driven development and marks a significant milestone in the city’s bright and promising future,” the city of Celina previously said in a Facebook post
