For the 10th year, St. Andrew United Methodist Church is hosting “A Salute to America,” a free concert honoring Memorial Day. It will be held Sunday, May 24 at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
“We have made some changes this year in celebration of our 10th year of hosting this concert,” said Jonathan Gregoire, Associate Director of Music/Principal Organist, St. Andrew UMC. “Instead of having the picnic prior to the concert, the concert will begin earlier with snow cones following.
“Additionally, we’d like to extend an invitation to the community to be a part of this beloved patriotic event by joining the Chancel Choir each Wednesday in May from 7-8 p.m. as we rehearse. We hope to make this year’s celebration both ‘by the community and for the community!’” No auditions are required to join the choir.
The concert will feature the St. Andrew Chancel Choir and Imperial Brass, the Bells of St. Andrew, and the Salt and Light Youth Choir. A military honor guard will provide the presentation of the flags, and a special invitation is extended to all veterans as each branch of the military will be recognized during the program.
“We hope you’ll come enjoy this concert as our gift to the community,” added Gregoire. “Dress casually and come enjoy the festivities of the afternoon as we celebrate our God and country!”
