It’s always exciting when a community member puts on their entrepreneurial hat and launches a new business. It’s even more exciting to see a young person succeed at their dreams! Kelsey Howard, 2006 graduate from Plano Senior High School and Carlisle Elementary alumnae, did just that.
“Fitness has always been a part of my life,” Kelsey told Plano Profile. As soon as she was able to walk, she was fitted for ice skates and ended up skating competitively for 15 years. In senior high school and in college, she was a cross country runner, although she “never thought in a million years [she] would have a career in the fitness industry.”
After taking a spin class a few years ago, she realized it was the perfect culmination of everything she loved: music and choreographed dance moves, combined with the intensity, cardio and strength training she craved. Fast-forward to 2016: She and a partner opened their second Lync Cycling location in Plano at The Shops at Legacy.
Lync offers a variety of cycling classes taught by different and fun personalities. Every instructor at Lync Cycling first started as a client—a great indication of the environment, workouts and results produced at Lync. These passionate clients-turned-instructors were trained by Lync’s very own program creating high quality and positive classes from beginning to end. “Each staff member supports each other, the studio, and all of the riders, and it makes for a happy place to work and workout.”
Also achieved in book smarts, Kelsey received her undergraduate and law degrees from SMU, and then proceed to pass the bar exam. Even though she’s not practicing law, she believes it has helped tremendously in launching Lync Cycling.
“I am much happier sitting on a bike than at a desk! “
