NCAA Division I Football Championship (FCS)

In early Jan. 2024, the 2023-24 FCS playoffs will feature a 24-team bracket, with the top eight teams receiving automatic byes to the second round. The remaining 16 teams will compete in the first round.

To minimize travel for teams, the FCS playoff bracket will be regionalized for the initial two rounds. First-round matchups will prioritize regional proximity and avoid contests between conference teams that have already faced each other. Additionally, the first-round pairings will be aligned with teams seeded one through eight, all aimed at reducing travel requirements.
