On February 11, 2024, 131 puppies will gear up to show their skills on the field for Puppy Bowl XX — three of these rescue pups will represent Dallas.

This year, Dallas Dog enlisted two recruits, while Hearts and Bones has one participant.

Snack Prescot from Hearts and Bones, will represent Team Fluff. He is an Australian cattle dog, American pit bull terrier mix who now resides with his family in New York. Joining Team Fluff is Lou Lou, a French bulldog from Dallas Dog who still calls the city home with her new family. Lou Lou was previously surrendered with her littermates, all having a cleft lip/palate.

The last pup representing the Lone Star State is Anza, a Belgian malinois, boxer mix from Dallas Dog. Anza was given the prestigious title of Team Ruff Captain.

The upcoming Puppy Bowl is set to be the largest one yet, showcasing dogs from 73 shelters and rescues across 36 states and territories. The lineup includes Sweetpea, the all-time smallest pup weighing in at 1.7 lbs, and Levi the Great Dane, the largest at 70 lbs. Last year, 122 puppies competed from 67 shelters.

The Puppy Bowl will feature a playing field with two end zones. Various chew toys will be scattered across the Puppy Bowl field, and the puppies need to carry these toys across the goal line to score a touchdown. But the pups must be careful, an official will be watching the action closely for any “pass inter-fur-ence," “unnecessary ruffness” or “premature watering of the field.” If one of the dogs commits a foul they will be asked to temporarily leave the field.

The program is set to begin with the yearly pre-game show at 12 p.m. on Animal Planet, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the draft. At 1 p.m., audiences can tune in to watch the event on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, Max and Discovery+ to find out who will take home the Lombarky trophy.
