Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center Opens In Allen, Texas

The long-awaited Terrell Recreation Center is now open to residents and non-residents alike. The center is located at 1680 W Exchange Pkwy.

The $54 million project by BRS Architects features a modern interior with many amenities and community rooms. Allen residents were prioritized with key features of the fitness center through public meetings, workshops and online surveys.

The amenities cater to a range of interests and age groups. Explore the indoor adventure track, offering both flat and inclined options, or engage in group exercise classes tailored to various fitness levels and preferences. Sports enthusiasts can partake in multi-sport courts for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, as well as batting cages and an athletic turf zone.

For special occasions, take advantage of the catering kitchen and multiple rental spaces, such as the treehouse party room. Additionally, the center offers personalized training sessions and diverse programs encompassing sports, fitness, arts and crafts and education.

The fitness floor, equipped with free weights, weight machines and state-of-the-art cardio equipment, provides ample opportunities for a fulfilling workout. Younger visitors can enjoy indoor play spaces, including a supervised playroom designed for children aged 3 months to 9 years. And, of course, the indoor playground featuring ground-level play features in direct view of nearby parental and guardian seating. The playground is designed for children ages 2 to 12.

In 2022, the Allen City Council approved the indoor playground for the recreation center at 1680 W. Exchange Parkway, Allen. During that time, the Allen City Council authorized a $1,227,626 contract for the design, fabrication and installation of the indoor playground.

Monthly memberships and daily passes are available for both resident and non-resident guests. A one-time enrollment fee for memberships ($75 for residents and non-residents) is applied during purchase. Enrollment fees will be waived for active military personnel and veterans.
