The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) will implement a series of upcoming traffic changes on Dallas Parkway from Monday, Aug. 5, through Saturday, Aug. 10, to facilitate ongoing construction activities.

During this time, the Dallas Parkwway north and southbound left lanes from First St. to FM 428 will be closed daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Additionally, from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10, the north-to-south U-turn lane at First St. will be closed daily during the same hours to accommodate drill shaft work.

It is important to note that the entire left lanes will not be closed simultaneously; closures will only occur at construction exits as needed. This arrangement is to ensure the timely transport of topsoil, mass hauling of materials and cleaning of the closure area.

The Dallas North Tollway Extension project commenced in late April 2024. As previously reported by Local Profile, this initiative aims to extend the tollway approximately 6 miles from US 380 in Prosper to FM 428 in Celina, with the extension featuring three lanes in each direction. The first segment of this phase, an extension bridge over US 380, opened to traffic in March 2023. On its inaugural day, approximately 11,000 vehicles traveled over the bridge.

Construction of the extension to FM 428 is anticipated to take three years, with completion and opening to traffic expected in 2027, weather permitting.

Residents and commuters are encouraged to email the NTTA at progressNTTA@NTTA.org for more information or to express any concerns regarding these traffic changes.
