Green Acres Nursery & Supply recently opened a new plant nursery in Melissa, Texas. The new store is open daily from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., while construction is still underway as Green Acres puts the finishing touches on the nursery, phase one is complete, and there’s plenty for customers to see.
“We’re thrilled to bring Green Acres to Melissa and can’t wait to talk plants with our new neighbors,” said owner Steve Gill. “It’s our mission to not only support our communities through our products and services, but to also engage with locals through events, workshops and other opportunities for people to ask questions and get hands-on experience they can take back to their own yards and gardens.”
The yard and patio sections are open and stocked full of plants suitable to the North Texas climate, many grown locally at Powell Plants. Visitors can check out the greenhouse filled with annuals and perennials, the lath house for shade plants, and stroll the multiple acres of outdoor space to shop for trees and shrubs.
Phase two will include a greenhouse for houseplants, a larger indoor space to shop for irrigation and landscape supplies along with decor, soil, amendments and fertilizers. The outdoor living department will soon offer patio furniture, grills and accessories.
