Dallas' New Professional Women's Soccer Team Announces Home Opener

The highly anticipated inaugural season of Dallas' new professional women's soccer team kicks off at the Cotton Bowl on Sept. 7, 2024. Dallas Trinity FC  is one of eight teams in the newly established USL Super League, a Division I professional women's soccer league in the United States.

“This is a thrilling time for women’s sports and women’s soccer in Dallas,” said Charlie Neil, president, Dallas Trinity FC. “We know our city stands ready to embrace and celebrate the skill, dedication and passion of female athletes. As we gear up for our home opener at the Cotton Bowl, we’re embracing our city's past while building towards a more inclusive and vibrant Future.”

In their home opener at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas Trinity FC will face DC Power FC on Saturday, Sept. 7. Their first away game will be against Tampa Bay Sun FC on Aug. 18 in Tampa, coinciding with the USL Super League's opening weekend. The complete schedule will be announced on Thursday, May 30, with tickets going on sale in June.

“Kicking off this August, directly after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, reinforces the league’s vision of aligning with the global game,” said USL Super League President Amanda Vandervort. “The league and our clubs are committed to delivering a world class experience for our fans and players, and we’re excited to see the on-field action and off-field impact each club has on its community.”

Dallas Trinity FC previously announced Chris Petrucelli as the team’s General Manager. As a two-time national coach of the year and the 1995 NCAA Championship coach, Petrucelli returns to Texas as the general manager of Dallas Trinity FC. Most recently, he served as the head coach of the Chicago Red Stars from 2022 to 2023.

Before coaching professional soccer, Petrucelli was the head coach of the SMU Mustangs’ women’s soccer team for 10 years (2012-2022) and the head coach of the University of Texas at Austin’s women’s soccer team from 1999 to 2011, where he led the team to Big 12 Championships in 2006 and 2007.

Dallas Trinity FC will sport the main colors of sunrise maroon, prairie gold and live oak green. These colors draw inspiration from the city skyline and the Trinity River, embodying the vibrant nature of Dallas and symbolizing local pride and excellence.
