Barnes & Noble opened its new bookstore in Allen, Texas, on Oct. 2, 2024. The grand opening at Watters Creek Village, located at 988 Village Green Drive, kicked off at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by acclaimed author Julia Heaberlin, followed by a book signing.
"We are delighted to be opening a bookstore in Allen, a community that hasn’t seen a new Barnes & Noble for over ten years," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, in an official statement. “The team here brings a collective 47 years of bookselling experience and is eager to get new books in the hands of our readers.”
According to the statement, Barnes & Noble has experienced significant growth, opening more new stores in 2023 than in the entire decade between 2009 and 2019. In 2024, the bookseller plans to open over 50 new locations, including ten in October alone.
“The most exciting part of this process has been knowing we get to serve a community as vibrant and welcoming as Allen,” said Pam Rasmussen, store manager, in the statement. “I have been a Barnes & Noble bookseller for over 12 years now, and not a day goes by that I don’t look forward to meeting new readers, connecting with them, learning about them and introducing them to new stories.”
Readers in Allen can look forward to upcoming events and more by following the store's social media page @bnallentx. The new store features Barnes & Noble's latest design, offering a wide selection of books, toys, games and gifts, along with an updated B&N Café.
