From Tuesday, Aug. 6, until Friday, Aug. 9, and again on Tuesday, Aug. 13, Atmos Energy will carry out routine maintenance, which includes the safe removal of natural gas, at 7689 Panther Creek Parkway in Frisco. The work is scheduled to take place daily from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In an official statement, Atmos Energy emphasizes that this procedure is a standard industry practice designed to safely extract natural gas from an isolated section of the pipeline. During this operation, residents may hear noises and detect the smell of mercaptan, a harmless odorant added to natural gas to give it a distinctive "rotten egg" scent. Atmos Energy assures that customers will not experience any service interruptions during the maintenance period.

Local city staff, public officials, 911 operators and emergency responders have been informed about the scheduled work to ensure community safety and preparedness.

Atmos Energy Corporation, based in Dallas, serves over 3 million customers in more than 1,400 communities across eight southern states. The company manages significant pipeline and storage assets, including one of Texas's largest intrastate natural gas pipeline systems.

“Atmos Energy remains focused on its vision to be the safest provider of natural gas services and this system modernization work demonstrates a continued investment in safety, innovation, environmental sustainability and our communities,” reads the official statement.
