Starting Nov. 13, 5th Street will be closed between Main and Elm streets each weekday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for utility installations as part of Frisco’s downtown reconstruction project.
According to the official statement, the city expects the closures to last between one and two weeks, depending on weather conditions and underground infrastructure.
Detour routes have been established to manage traffic flow. For northbound traffic on 5th Street, drivers will be directed east onto Elm Street, then north on South County Road to reach Main Street.
For westbound traffic on Main wanting to turn south on 5th, drivers should continue on Main, detour south on 2nd Street, and then head east on Elm Street back to 5th Street. Eastbound traffic on Main looking to turn south onto 5th Street should proceed on Main, then detour south on South County Road and west on Elm Street to return to 5th Street.
With several nearby streets already impacted by construction, the city encourages drivers to exercise caution in the work zone, consider alternate routes and use the Waze app for updated navigation around closures.
