Upcoming Happy Hour In Grandscape Is About More Than Just Cocktails

Happy hours are often about unwinding with drinks and small bites, but this one has a deeper meaning. On Dec. 19, Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails is hosting a holiday happy hour from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Socorro Tequila. The drinks will be great, and the food will be fantastic, but this is all in support of a cause that’s making a real difference.

Seven Doors Gives Back

Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails Executive Chef and General Manager Jake Quintana has always believed in the power of food to connect people, but a trip to Mexico opened his eyes to a new way of making an impact.

In October 2021, Quintana joined one of the early groups to visit Mexico as part of the "Case for a Case" initiative, a charitable mission spearheaded by Josh Irving and Pablo Antinori, founders of Socorro Tequila. While he had heard about the initiative — where a case of water is donated for every case of tequila sold — it wasn't until he saw it firsthand that he truly understood its significance.

"You really can't wrap your head around it until you're there," Quintana tells Local Profile. "It was phenomenal. The kids were so happy to see us — their faces were full of joy."

Why This Matters

The "Case for a Case" initiative was born from the founders' trip to Jalisco, where they realized that in certain parts of Mexico, access to clean water is a luxury, not a given. Moved by this reality, Irving and Antinori decided to make a difference. For every case of tequila sold, they would donate a case of water to orphanages, nursing homes, and communities in need. This mission became the foundation of Socorro Tequila, symbolized by the company’s logo, which features water, helping hands, and agave, along with the phrase "Case for a Case" on every bottle.

For Quintana, being part of the mission meant more than just delivering water. The experience also involved spending time with the children in orphanages, where he saw the direct impact of their donations. "The kids know us, and we get to see them grow each year," he says. "It’s a rewarding feeling knowing you're part of something that’s really helping."

Quintana is passionate about spreading the word about the initiative. At Seven Doors, he displays photos of the trips, giving patrons a tangible connection to the cause. "The donations go a long way," he says. "That’s why I put up photos in Seven Doors — so people can see where their money is going."

An Immediate Impact

One particularly impactful moment for Quintana came when a woman in a small town expressed her gratitude after the Socorro team delivered water. "She said she was so glad to see us because the water had just been shut off due to contamination," Quintana recalled. "It was a powerful reminder of how much this initiative means to these communities."

In addition to providing clean water, the Socorro team also donates essential medicines and books to help improve the lives of those they support. What started with Josh and Pablo has since grown into a mission that extends far beyond their tequila business.

Quintana's involvement goes beyond giving water. As a chef, he also brings his skills to the table, preparing special meals for the children. "They usually eat beans, rice, and soups, so we try to give them something they don’t usually get to eat, like hamburgers and hot dogs," he explained. "One time, we even rented jumping castles, made cotton candy, and had a little carnival for them. It was such a fun experience."

"This all started with Josh and Pablo, and it's turned into such a big thing — for Socorro, for me, and for all the towns we visit," Quintana says.
