The Taco Stand Brings Its Tijuana-style Tacos To Uptown Dallas

A family-run street taco joint based in La Jolla, California, has officially opened its first eatery in the Lone Star State. The Taco Stand is joining Dallas's highly walkable Uptown neighborhood on McKinney Avenue.

The Taco Stand offers affordable dishes with traditional ingredients, including its al pastor, pescado and carne asada tacos, burritos, volcans and quesadillas served on handmade corn tortillas. The Taco Stand caters to a variety of dietary needs — vegetarians can opt for the tasty nopal cactus taco.

“After a visit to Dallas a few years ago, I was captivated by the thriving Mexican food scene and the genuine enthusiasm for eating tacos,” said Julian Hakim, co-founder of Shōwa Hospitality, who created the Taco Stand's concept. “This felt very much like our humble beginnings in San Diego and we saw an opportunity to bring The Taco Stand to Dallas, adding to the city's already impressive taco offerings.”

Known for its top-of-the-line meats, approachable pricing and authentic flavors, the Taco Stand is known to generate quite a crowd at its eateries. Menu items range from $4 to $5 for tacos and $6 to $11 for burritos.

The restaurant spans 1,010 square feet and accommodates 30 seats. Its prominent features include a spacious open kitchen and an inviting countertop, both designed to highlight the in-house tortilla production and the brand's distinctive vertical spit-roasted pork.

The Taco Stand, a fast-casual concept with dine-in, take-out out and delivery options, is now open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. Catering options are also available for those looking to feed a crowd.
