Harvest, McKinney's Michelin-Recommend Restaurant, Sees Spike In Reservations

It’s been just over a week since The Michelin Guide Texas released its picks for the best restaurants in Texas — and these notable restaurants are seeing the Michelin effect.

Since Michelin recommended Harvest at the Masonic, the restaurant has seen an uptick in reservations.

By The Numbers

According to Harvest Owner Rick Wells, the restaurant has seen a 25-30% increase in reservations during the week, open Tuesday through Thursday. Because the restaurant was already well booked during the weekends, it’s difficult for an exact percentage increase.

“We are typically full on the weekends but have felt the Michelin bump there as well,” Wells told Local Profile.

Why Is This Important

In Dallas-Fort Worth, there were 23 Michelin-recommended restaurants, with Harvest being the only recommended in Collin County. Only one Dallas restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star: Tatsu

What Makes Harvest Special

Renowned for its farm-to-table cuisine and commitment to sourcing ingredients sustainably from nearby farmers, Harvest is located in a former Free Masons lodge (hence the name). Its goal is to serve high-quality food while supporting local businesses and preserving history. At Harvest food is good, very good, we liked the sweet potato hummus, pan-roasted redfish and braised short rib.

"This is a testament to our team’s commitment to sustainable food practices, as well as hospitality,” Wells previously told Local Profile. “Hats off to chef Andrea Shackelford, General Manager Sanam Zahir and the entire harvest team and their commitment to intentional sourcing and thoughtful investment, helping create a strong local network of farmers, ranchers, artists and artisans to grow a movement to leave the world better than we found it."

How Michelin Guide Restaurants Were Selected

Since The Michelin Guide Texas announcement, undercover inspectors have been quietly dining across the state, booking tables under assumed names and footing their own bills to guarantee an authentic, unfiltered experience — just like any other guest.

The inspectors are full-time Michelin employees and rate their experience according to five publicly acknowledged assessment criteria:

  • Quality of the products
  • Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques
  • The personality of the chef in his or her cuisine
  • Value for money
  • Consistency between visits
