Grub Burger Bar is all about simplicity.
“That’s what made restaurants great,” explained Jimmy Loup, the CEO and Founder. “Simple concepts made extraordinary.”
The result is a strong sense of community, high standards and quality. All their sauces are homemade. Their buns are baked fresh every hour. The entire menu is original. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously,” Loup joked. “But we take what we do seriously.”
Today at a media lunch, Loup explained that Grub Burger Bar Plano is actually the flagship restaurant and a test market for an expanded menu.
Plano, according to Loup, is the perfect test market. It’s got everything: A diverse customer base, prime real estate, and a high population density in a competitive market. “If it works here,” Loup explained. “It’ll work anywhere.”
Grub Burger Bar Plano is officially adding more emphasis on the bar and adding lighter fare. There are new sides such as roasted brussel sprouts dusted with queso fresco, a charred corn and black bean medley, tabbouleh and much more.
We tread on the lighter side with Grub Burger Bar, and we were glad we did.
Classic Grub
There are still classic items. The Harlem Chicken Tenders, for example, aren’t going anywhere. They’ve got just the right amount of crunch, the chicken inside is tender, not stringy. Burger fans still can—and should—order legendary burgers like the Guacapotle and the Lockhart Legend. The Guacapotle comes with homemade guacamole and spice from chipotle aioli, and the Lockhart comes slathered with homemade Dr Pepper BBQ sauce and bacon.
Ahi Tuna
Try the Ahi Tuna for an appetizer, seared tuna with mango and sweet chili vinaigrette.
Burgers
An awesome choice for vegetarians, the Hippie Chickpea is a ground chickpea and eggplant burger that comes with roasted red pepper mayo and goat cheese. If turkey’s more your style than beef, there’s the Jive Turkey, a pesto seasoned turkey burger with sprouts, Swiss cheese and the same chipotle aioli that makes the Guacapotle so good.
Bowls
Try a new salad bowls such as the Salmon Filet Bowl or the Thai Noodle Salad with mango, avocado and an added protein. They have flavor without the fat and are perfect lunch options that won’t leave you needing a nap, but will leave you craving more.
Milkshakes
And though they aren’t light, the milkshakes can’t be missed. The soft serve that goes into every milkshake is actually dairy free. (Ask before you order to double check and ask for no whipped cream.)
There’s plenty to try, like local craft beers and the Five Dollar ‘Rita. Whether you’re dropping by for a salad after a workout, or enjoying a cheat day with a Lockhart Legend, Grub Burger is simple and extraordinary.
