Broken Yolk Cafe specializes in breakfast and brunch. The original location opened in San Diego in 1979, and since then, Broken Yolk Cafe has expanded throughout California and beyond. And today, one is opening in McKinney.

The new McKinney restaurant is 4,000 square feet and includes a 1,500-square-foot dog-friendly patio. It's got an indoor-outdoor bar with a garage door, a cowboy hat wall, and a sunrise mural that's perfect for Instagram fodder.

The Texas-inspired creations include fried chicken benedict, tres leches French toast, cowboy skillet and loaded cheesy cheddar grits.

Last weekend, Local Profile got an advanced sneak peek. We tried the mom (avocado, spinach, mushroom, onion, red and green bell pepper, salsa fresca and sour cream), good morning burger (fried eggs, applewood-smoked bacon, melted cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo), fried chicken benedict (crispy fried chicken, fried eggs, roasted poblano white cheddar sauce, fresh sliced jalapeños, chives, buttermilk biscuit), fiesta burrito (scrambled eggs, shredded beef, onion, bell pepper, tomato, cheddar cheese, flour tortilla), the aforementioned cowboy skillet and a sunset trio (Tiki Toast, crunchy french toast and cinna-cake). Everything was really good! We also ordered a mimosa flight.

At today's grand opening, the first 100 guests had a chance to snag Broken Yolk Cafe golden pancake cards, earning themselves free pancakes for a year. The event was packed with special promotions and giveaways, including a prize wheel that gave guests the chance to win cool swag like mugs and tumblers.

"We couldn't be more excited to start inviting guests into Broken Yolk Cafe’s newest restaurant," Alicia Gonzales, general manager of Broken Yolk Cafe McKinney, said in an official statement. "Our menu, ambiance and commitment to excellent service are perfectly suited to the dynamic and welcoming spirit of this community. We can’t wait to become a part of McKinney’s everyday happenings, whether for family meals or the perfect gathering spot for local organizations."

Located at 6651 Alma Rd, Suite 250, Broken Yolk is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
