Dave’s Hot Chicken Launches Vegetarian Options In North Texas

Dave's Hot Chicken is set to introduce its first new core menu item in almost seven years. For a limited time, the chain will be offering two vegetarian options.

"Dave’s NOT Chicken" presents a unique twist with its hot, juicy and crispy cauliflower sliders and cauliflower bites. Crafted from freshly hand-sliced whole cauliflower heads, each slider is seasoned and fried to order, featuring the irresistible spices used in the company’s popular hot chicken.

“For years, our fans have been asking us to make a meatless option that has all the flavor, crunch and spice of our Hot Chicken,” Dave’s Hot Chicken’s CEO Bill Phelps said. “After spending weeks in the test kitchen testing countless different products, just like the founders did back in the parking lot pop-up days, we’ve created a meat alternative that’s so tasty, even our most dedicated Hot Chicken loyalists will want to try it.”

Going the extra mile, several Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants have updated their exterior signage to proudly display "Dave’s NOT Chicken," including one in North Texas at 1709 Preston Rd., #A, Plano.

Dave’s did not specify how long the meatless items will be available, so make sure to get it while it’s here.

Established in 2017 as a pop-up in a parking lot, Dave’s Hot Chicken was founded by Chef Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy Rubenyan. The brand has witnessed rapid expansion, driven by strategic franchising and notable investments, including support from the musical artist Drake.

Specializing in large Hot Chicken Sliders and Tenders, Dave’s Hot Chicken offers a menu that includes house-made kale slaw, creamy mac and cheese and crispy seasoned french fries. With spice levels ranging from No Spice to the daring Reaper which requires a signed waiver, every piece of juicy, hand-breaded chicken (and cauliflower) is seasoned to order.
