A beautiful night of fun and entertainment at the Mercedes-Benz of Plano!
The evening began with the 400+ attendees mingling while enjoying small bites and beverages from local restaurants including Sambuca 360, RA Sushi, Mi Dia From Scratch, Del Frisco’s Grille, Eatzi’s and Fireside Pies. Jazz saxophonist Dr. Marcus Whitmore was the lovely pre-show entertainment.
Everyone took to their seats for the 4th Annual Legacy of Love Benefit & Fashion Show event to begin while the crowd was welcomed by event chairs Jean Callison and Joyce Logan as well as Children’s Medical Center Plano, Senior Vice President and Administrator Michael Wiggins. They collectively reminded all what the night was about: benefiting the children of Children’s Medical Center Plano through the Women’s Auxiliary, Legacy Chapter.
Emcees Pete Delkus and Rikki Ragland, chief meteorologist at WFAA-TV and former NBC 5 news anchor, respectively, led the night. First to stroll down the runway were five Children’s Medical Center Plano patients, followed by Children’s staff, volunteer models and Maddie, a Children’s therapy dog. Delkus and Ragland took the audience on a fashion journey with designs by TOOTSIES, Circa 2000 Menswear, Vineyard Vines and Claudia Lobao, worn by fashion models.
The night’s goal was to raise $150,000 for Children’s Medical Center Plano. The community support brought in an astonishing total of nearly $200,000 that evening which will be used for patient support, equipment and other program needs, such as Pet Therapy program. Other programs funded include Music Therapy, Bear Hugs, Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders, Children’s Research Institute and Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Auctioneer Wendy Lambert then took control of the program starting with an introduction of the night’s honorary chairs former Cowboys Darren Woodson and his wife, Tiffany. After the 10-minute live auction, $31,000 had been raised for Children’s.
The night ended with closing remarks by Sheri Steele, president of the Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center Plano, Legacy Chapter. Coffee, dessert and entertainment by classical violinist Sarah Carmichael was enjoyed as the event came to a close. Plano Profile took great honor in being the Legacy of Love Benefit & Fashion Show event’s media sponsor.
