The Children's Cancer Fund (CCF) is gearing up for a monumental celebration on April 11, 2025, as it marks the 35th anniversary of its signature gala at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. This year’s event promises to be a night of heartfelt memories, star-studded moments and impactful fundraising aimed at supporting the fight against childhood cancer.

With honorary chairs Cowboys’ legends Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott, alongside gala chairs Lori Jones, Dallas philanthropist and executive with the Dallas Cowboys, and Meredith Land, longtime anchor at NBC5 News, this occasion is expected to resonate deeply with attendees and supporters alike.

The 35th Anniversary Gala holds special significance for those who have been part of CCF’s journey. “It’s not just about raising funds — it’s about celebrating the incredible strength of these young warriors,” Jones told Local Profile in a recent interview. This year’s event is a powerful reminder of the tangible impact CCF has had on children and families battling cancer. Attendees will witness firsthand the resilience of the children walking the runway in the evening’s fashion show, which has become an iconic moment in the gala’s history.

For longtime supporters like Jones and Meredith Land, the Gala is more than just an event — it’s a shared mission. CCF’s focus on providing resources, funding research and creating joyful moments for children is what keeps these supporters coming back year after year.

“For my family, the Gala is a cherished event,” says Jones. “It’s an evening filled with inspiration, celebration and a deep sense of purpose. We look forward to seeing the kids shine on stage, connecting with other supporters and knowing that every dollar raised is going toward something truly life-changing. This event reminds us that we are all part of something bigger.”

What sets the gala apart is not just the cause but the involvement of local legends Aikman and Prescott. Their participation adds an extra layer of excitement and heart to the evening. “They truly connect with each child, making them feel like the stars of the night,” Jones and Land shared with Local Profile. Their leadership and generosity amplify CCF’s message, inspiring more people to get involved and support the mission.

An Evening of Celebration and Impact

Guests can expect a night filled with excitement, beginning with a cocktail reception and auction at 6 p.m., followed by a spectacular fashion show at 8 pm. The runway will be graced by brave young patients, escorted by celebrities, showcasing their courage and the support of their community. As the night progresses, attendees will take part in a live auction, paddle raise and the highly anticipated Survivors Walk, before dancing the night away at the after-party.

“One of the most touching moments of the gala is always the fashion show,” says Land. “Seeing the joy on the kids’ faces as they walk the runway, feeling confident and celebrated, is unforgettable. It’s a moment where they get to be kids — laughing, smiling and soaking in the love and support from the audience. I’ve also seen how CCF’s funding directly impacts families, helping to ease the burden of treatment and offering hope through research advancements.”

This year’s Gala theme is centered around the strength of these young cancer fighters and the progress made in pediatric cancer research. From an inspiring fashion show to exclusive auction items, every detail has been crafted to make the night both memorable and meaningful.

Looking Ahead: A Future Free from Childhood Cancer

CCF’s leaders are hopeful for the future of the organization. “We hope that CCF continues to grow and make an even greater impact — funding innovative research, advancing treatments and providing more support for families,” say Jones and Land. They emphasize the importance of community in this ongoing fight, aiming for a future where no child has to battle cancer.

The mission is clear: every dollar raised at the gala will contribute to a brighter future for children battling cancer. It’s a night that goes beyond celebration, offering a chance for all attendees to contribute to meaningful change.
