The Celina Police Department kicked off its annual Blue Santa Program, a holiday initiative aimed at bringing joy to more than 130 families within the Celina community this season.
Designed to provide local children with gifts that cater to both their needs and holiday wishes, the program runs in collaboration with Celina ISD teachers, counselors and the ISD Police Department, who help identify families in need of assistance.
Unlike a traditional toy drive, the Blue Santa Program offers a personalized approach, with each child submitting a unique wish list. Community members who adopt a family receive these lists, allowing them to select gifts tailored to each child’s desires. Participants also receive guidelines for gift wrapping and a delivery deadline, ensuring that all gifts are prepared and delivered in time for the holiday season.
The program encourages group participation, making it easy for friends, families and neighbors to come together to adopt a family. According to an official statement, just one contact is needed to streamline the process, making group adoptions a straightforward and impactful way to contribute. Additionally, $25 Visa or Walmart gift cards are welcomed to help fulfill remaining family wish lists.
In a statement, the Celina Police Department expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity, which has allowed the Blue Santa Program to flourish year after year. “You may never know who these children are or why they need help, but your involvement has a lasting impact,” reads the program’s message.
