Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cancer Support Community North Texas Team Up for First-Ever “Run BIG” 1K & 5K on Memorial Day 2016. Walkers and runners across North Texas will have the chance to participate in the first-ever “Run BIG” 1K & 5K on the grounds surrounding one of the Dallas area’s biggest retailers—Nebraska Furniture Mart—and all for a good cause. The event benefits Cancer Support Community North Texas (CSCNT) and aims to bring together anyone impacted by cancer to celebrate surviving and thriving with the disease in a BIG way.
Complete with activities for the entire family, the event will feature family fun activities including music, games, food and other activities for kids. All proceeds from the event will go to support CSCNT’s Collin, Dallas and Tarrant county clubhouses and the mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. “We want to show North Texas in a BIG way that cancer support is important to anyone affected by the disease,” says CSCNT CEO Mirchelle Louis. “There’s no better ‘big’ partner than Nebraska Furniture Mart to help us celebrate the thousands of people who are not just surviving—but thriving—during and after their cancer journey, and we’re thrilled to be working together again.”

The run, a public event supported by NBC-5, will begin at 9 a.m. at the parking entrance to Nebraska Furniture Mart. The event will kick off with an inspirational ceremony representing the many kinds of cancers North Texans are living with today. The run/walk will follow, and a spirited celebration will take place post-race. All proceeds from the event go toward the free support programs CSCNT provides from networking and support groups to yoga and meditation workshops to children’s programs and educational presentations.
A celebration on the grounds follows the event, featuring food trucks, lively music and lots of family-friendly activities.
