On March 1 at Casey Joyce All-America VFW Post 4380 in Plano, Commander Marty Nell with Sr. Vice Commander Claude Fitzpatrick II, and Auxiliary Sr. Vice President Christy Barnhouse, presented the following awards to students that participated in the annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Scholarship program. These awards are presented annually by the Case Joyce VFW Post 4380, which is named for a Plano Senior High graduate who lost his life in the Black Hawk Down incident. Awards included plaques and a monetary check from the VFW and the Auxiliary.

Voice of Democracy:
Mira Banerji, Clark High School, Plano

Patriot’s Pen:
Braeden West – 6th grade
Jose Cabrera – 7th grade
Henry Christensen – 8th grade

All from Bowman Middle School

Not present at the awards was Jose Cabrera – 7th grade.

Firefighter of the Year: Nick Kalina

Paramedic of the Year: Josh Clouse

Teacher of the Year: Lisa Willey

Not present at the awards were Bill Rollins and Josh Clouse.
