Plano Police Department, Cash Transactions

As the number of online sales through sites such as Craigslist continues to rise, so does the possibility of fraud or other types of crime associated with these transactions.

Historically, it has been recommended that you conduct these types of transactions in a public place during daylight hours or in a well-lit, high-traffic location. Now, in an effort to continue to reduce the possibility of fraud and increase safety, the Plano Police Department is offering a “transaction zone” for citizens who are buying and selling products through the internet.

If you are going to make a purchase or sale with a stranger, you can arrange to meet them either in the parking lot or in the lobby at the police station. If you want to conduct the transaction in the lobby, you should schedule it during normal business hours. Although the vast majority of these transactions occur without any problems, the Plano Police Department aims to provide you with a safer alternative to conduct your transactions. But remember, these locations are for legal transactions only.
